BIL Group supply castors, wheels, and material handling equipment to a whole range of industries, including fabrication, bakeries, truck and trolley manufacturers…. But football goals, how do they fit in?
Recently, BIL Group were approached by local youth football club Melksham Town FC. Melksham use their goals for all home games, utilising 7 a side up to 11 a side mobile goals. The goals are moved on a lifting jack mechanism, raising the goal onto four wheels to move, and lowering back down when in position.
With the goals being moved almost every evening of the week plus throughout the day at weekends, it is important they remain up to standard so the volunteers can manoeuvre the goals with ease to their designated pitches efficiently and safely!
With the demands of the season, including an array of weather conditions and vast quantity of games, this took its toll on the existing wheels on the goals with some tyres reaching end of life and some wheel hubs breaking away deeming the wheels unusable and the goals themselves almost unmoveable.
As the season drew to a close, the club already had their eyes on next season and making sure kit and equipment is ready to go from day one of pre-season!
Fortunately, at BIL Group we stock the 260mm puncture proof tyres the club need. With that in mind, our sales manager Nathan met with some of the volunteers at the club with some wheels and had them fitted to some of the goals. The very next day, these goals were used for the club’s football tournament and there are plans across the summer to make further repairs with BIL lending a hand and support to make sure they are ready for the new season!
One of the coaches at the football club was more than impressed with our wheels, saying “The wheels were of good quality, easy to fit and BIL were very empathetic in how we just want to keep the equipment running for the sake of the kids.
